3D Rendering Software Engineer

Position / Job Description

Ostendo is looking for a 3D Rendering Software Engineer to a join a team developing algorithms and software for next generation light field displays.

Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Advance the state of the art of rendering light field images.
  • Participate in the definition and development of new 3D light field displays.
  • Contribute to system test and validation plans.

Education

Ph.D. degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or M.S. degree and equivalent work experience in a related field.

Position Requirements

  • Expertise in C, C++.
  • Expertise in OpenGL and GLSL; must be familiar with recent extensions.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency with advanced OpenGL either through previous demos/sample applications or an in-depth presentation.
  • Strong understanding of 3D math (matrices, vectors, coordinate systems as used in the 3D pipeline).
  • Strong understanding of distributed rendering and familiarity with at least one of the following: Open Scene Graph, Equalizer, Chromium, or Open Inventor.
  • Experience with rendering to multiple displays simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of GPGPU concepts and experience with CUDA or Stream.
  • Experience with performance- and throughput-oriented multi-threading.
  • Strong understanding of graphics processor fundamentals and multi pipeline image rendering concepts.
  • Ability to work with custom GPUs.
  • Deep understanding of rendering techniques that lead to power, processing and throughput optimizations.
  • Previous experience in rendering for stereoscopic, autostereoscopic or light field displays.

Nice To Have:

  • Direct3D 10 or 11 experience.
  • OpenCL experience.
  • Understanding of image processing and compression concepts.
  • Real-time ray tracing experience.

Compression Algorithm Engineer

Position / Job Description

Ostendo is looking for a Video Processing and Compression Algorithm Engineer to join a team developing algorithms and software for next generation light field displays.

Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop algorithms for next generation video coding technologies and standards. Considerable focus will be placed on 3D video technologies.
  • Actively participate in the related work of standardization forums: JCT-VC, MPEG Video and ITU-T/VCEG.
  • Participate in creation of applications level software and/or embedded signal processing software and/or prototype hardware or related firmware that are efficient, modular, well documented, bug free and understandable by others skilled in the art.
  • Participate in the process of creating detailed product requirements from high level objectives.

Education

Ph.D. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science required. 2+ years of relevant industrial experience preferred.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years programming experience required.
  • Proven record of algorithm development in the area of video compression with evidence of high-quality research results through publications, granted patents or standardization contributions.
  • Thorough background in digital image processing theory, including spatial and temporal representations, image/video coding technologies and standards, 3D video understanding, color theory, and digital filter design.
  • Mastery of the relevant multimedia compression formats such as JPEG2000, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, SVC, MVC, as well as of the HEVC video coding standard and its extensions. Hands on experience with transform design, entropy coding, motion estimation, mode decision techniques, rate control and quantization.
  • Proficiency in C++ and/or C programming in Windows/Linux.
  • Knowledge of quantitatively assessing hardware implementation requirements of algorithms is preferred.
  • Knowledge of graphics programming concepts.

Mechanical Systems Engineer

Position / Job Description

Ostendo Technologies is seeking a highly motivated person that can work in a collaborative, fast pace work environment with qualification and extensive experience in micro-mechanical electromotive gimbaled systems.

Education

Minimum Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or Applied Mathematics or similar field required with extensive work experience. Ph.D. degree a plus.

Position Requirements

  • Proven ability to apply and demonstrate analytic application of micro-scale mechanical systems.
  • 5-10 years development experience in micro-scale electromagnetic actuation and multi-axis gimbal mechanisms.
  • Direct applied experience in small gyro, mechanized guidance, or similar micro-dynamic mechanized systems.
  • Direct experience in classic mathematical motion calculation and simulation of rigid- body kinetic/kinematic dynamic systems as well as multi-axis forced vibration applications.
  • Motion modeling and simulation expertise using dynamic and frequency analysis tools such as SolidWorks Simulation®, Ansys®, or Abaqus® (Simulia®).
  • Capability using numeric analysis tools including Coventorware®, MathCAD®, Mathematica® or MATLAB®.
  • MEMS experiences beneficial.
  • Excellent understanding of material properties and their applications in dynamic systems.
  • Proven experience in device fabrication, test and characterization.
  • Direct experience working through multiple phases of product development and manufacturing.

Controls Engineer

Position / Job Description

This position will focus on developing control systems & circuitry to control electro-mechanical motion devices. The successful candidate will have experience performing all tasks required to create an analog/digital control system/circuitry for high frequency electro-mechanical devices. These tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Electronic control specification generation
  • Electronic control system simulation and analysis
  • Electronic control system circuit design
  • Developing test procedures for electronic control systems
  • Testing/troubleshooting of electronic control systems
  • Developing documentation for the final configuration of control systems

Education

Digital ASIC Engineer

Position / Job Description

Ostendo Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Digital ASIC Engineer, responsible for designing and testing the ASIC. This includes high level RTL code optimized for foundry libraries, specifying constraints, running the tools (RTL compiler + place and route + static timing analysis) and timing closure as well as simulations, both functional RTL and post layout timing. You must understand the scripts and have knowledge of C programming and scripting to accomplish the tasks. Knowledge of FPGA emulation and running FPGA tools with embedded processor such as NIOS 2 is desirable.

We are looking for an expert in the backend ASIC tools and foundry libraries; successful candidate must show extensive knowledge of above areas, as much as someone who has been working with them for 5 years or more.

Education

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Hands-on ASIC design and layout experience.

Position Requirements

  • At least 5 years experience.
  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
  • Version control knowledge is mandatory

Semiconductor Process Engineer

Position / Job Description

Ostendo Technologies, Inc. is seeking a self-motivated individual to fill the position of Semiconductor Process Engineer. This individual will be responsible for developing the innovative optoelectronic device using semiconductor and wafer bonding processes. Responsibilities include most aspects of optoelectronics semiconductor device fabrication, such as photolithography, wet and dry etch etching, passivation, electroplating, metal evaporation and CMP. This position includes sustained development and process characterization responsibilities in the wafer processing environment. This position requires familiarity with commercially available optoelectronic processing equipments. The Semiconductor Process Engineer will work with Ostendo's optoelectronic design team and perform the work in the clean room environment as part of the semiconductor process team. The successful candidate will be an essential team member and bring novel semiconductor photonic technology designs from early R&D stages through to production and application.

Education

Minimum of Masters in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Physics.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum five years experience of semiconductor wafer processing.
  • Understand dry and wet etch chemistry and basic maintenance of dry and wet etch tools.

Semiconductor Process Technician / Jr. Engineer

Position / Job Description

Ostendo Technologies, Inc. is seeking a self-motivated individual to fill the position of Semiconductor Process Technician / Jr. Engineer. This individual will be responsible for processing the innovative optoelectronic device using semiconductor process. Responsibilities include most aspects of optoelectronics semiconductor device fabrication, such as CMP, photolithography, wet and dry etch etching, electroplating, and thin film metal deposition. This position includes routine process development and process characterization in the wafer processing environment. This position requires familiarity with commercially available optoelectronic processing equipments, such as steppers, contact aligners, wet benches, RIE machines, sputtering and e-beam machines. The Semiconductor Process Technician / Jr. Engineer will work with Ostendo's semiconductor process engineers and scientists, follow the instructions in the clean room environment with the semiconductor process team. The successful candidate will be an essential team member for processing and bring novel semiconductor photonic technology designs from early R&D stages to production and manufacturing as a total team effort.

Education

High School or above, Professional Degree, Certification of semiconductor equipment is a plus, College degree preferred in Electrical Engineer, Chemical Engineering, or Physics.
